@ nakedmom: Since X (amount we need him to fold) and Y ( % he can call down) add up to 1, you can replace Y by (1 - X) which leaves only one variable and allows you to solve the equation. Don just skipped this part assuming people know that. So it does make sense after all @ Don I like the math but I think good players call down lighter because you can't represent a very strong hand with this line and lose balance
