hey nice vid. Was hoping you could elaborate on the A10dd button fold to a 3x open at 4.30. I thought it looked like a good spot to merge our 3 bet range because of the small blind and i really hate flatting when we are trying to hit a flop or fold (especially 3xs). If we aren't just folding whenever we miss the flop i'd prefer to take the reigns postflop with a 3bet to begin extracting info from the original raiser and putting him on a hand. If he had min opened id flat but when he full 3x's i start thinking 3bet. You immediately said you'd flat and i was immediately thinking the fold was alright but id prefer 3betting vs folding and i would fold vs flat call because of the 3x and short sb. If he opened for 2x or 2.2x and there wasnt a clear re-shove stack behind then I'm thinking its a more clear flat call? I may be wrong here and if so let me know i just mashed my brain on this for 20 min.

lefebvre- Glad you enjoyed it. Regarding the ATs hand. I would say flatting > 3 Bet >>>folding. Our hand is just so pretty and plays so well post flop, we're definitely not just playing "fit or fold" post flop. When comparing what to do versus a min-raise or 3 Bet here, I would actually say we should be more likely to flat when he makes a larger raise. If we 3 Bet against his 3bb open we're dumping the value with a strong hand in position that plays well postflop and instead likely deciding whether or not to get in a marginal holding preflop. Merging a 3B range here doesn't really make sense without some history. Of course things would be different if we were OOP. Also, with the short stack in the SB, I'm not too worried. We have the top of our flatting range and are thrilled to get it in with him, it just depends on how aggro the original opener is going to isolate, which I wouldn't expect to be crazy wide.

Thanks dd, I suppose i was to worried about his sizing/sb shoving and was leveling myself. I agree very decent spot to flat and play in position. Just curious what line you'd take pre vs his 3x open with small pairs. What line do we take while dealing with a standard aggresive opener who isn't to out of of line vs someone lag and capable of clicking buttons on us. thanks man

Of course 3x opens aren't as common nowadays and almost always indicate a weak player so let's go with that assumption regarding 3x opens. If it's a standard aggressive opener I would decide between flatting and 3B/folding with a small pair. The weaker the player is post-flop, the more likely I am to flat (admittedly I wouldn't do it with much less than 40bbs). If he's opening a lot of pots but bowing down to 3-bets/further aggression I would probably 3B/fold. If we're dealing with someone pretty laggy and creative, then I'm leaning towards flatting or folding. It feels kind of weak to say that, but if he 4-bets you're either calling off your stack or 5betting all in with no fold equity, which is just too much equity to risk, I think. Of course 66/77 I think is very different from 22/33/44.
