Nice hands vs Gary. The Neville hand is just an unavoidable cooler, nothing you can do about it. I think he overlimps 99 a fair amount of the time in that spot, but is raising JJ+ almost always.

I can't see any way your $75 bluff into 1400 on the river is a good play, because I can't see anyway I would fold any pair in vilain's shoes in his spot. I mean, come on ! He HAS to see that his apparently ridiculously tight strategy is going to induce a float from you on that flop with any gutshot, at least SOME of the times... Getting 20 to 1, the simple fact that you might have a gutshot on the flop is really more than enough to justify a call. I did listen to the previous hands and I get that there's some metagame involded, but that doesn't explain his ridiculous river mistake. (Also, in the previous hand, if I fot it right, he raised 4x behind 3 or 4 limpers ? That, in itself, shows that he has to be pretty weak.) If you knew for a fact that he would make those kind of laydowns, it would be obv different, but you seem to describe him as "good tight", which seems definitly not true ! Seems obvious (to me) that against a "good tight" player, your bluff wouldn't work 1 in 20 times... (However, of course, I'd understand and like something like a $300-400 bluff on the river...)

Great video. Found the $75 bluff very comical the way the showdown played out and the perfect size given the earlier hand and the player personality described. Curious as to how long it took you to raise to 12K on the final hand? Were you altering the amount of time you took before taking action throughout the session or did you mainly stick to the same routine?

Really great videos thanks Niman! I also has said above am interested in how long you took to rasie $12k and in future videos i think its well worth adding your thought process at the table coupled with the time you are taking to make the play. i mean after how long at the table on the river did u realise you werre going to reraise then how long did you take to annouce! great vids much thnaks. gl

I'm very surprised you said you can play QQ like that getting to the river. If you are betting the turn there for value, that is pretty thin IMO. After you call the c/r on the turn, I don't think he can ever put you on QQ so that is out of your range in his mind when you raised the river. So you are only repping 22(1) KK(1) and 88 (3). Also let's say if you really had 88, I don't think there is any value in raising the river because given the range you assign him, if you think he's folding AA (3), then you are just value towning yourself to KK (1) However I can see him put 88 in your range to raise the river. Even if he's thinking at a high enough level where he knows you will never raise 88 on the river for value because he knows you know worse will never call, you can still credibly rep KK or 22. It's also a spot where you are never bluffing so it makes it a very strong play. The leverage of deep stack poker baby! My analysis could be off so please correct me if I'm wrong.

imho, you rarely had QQ there after betting turn and calling a c/r on turn. you are only repping KK or 22 which there are only 3 combos of hands. the rest of the hands in the video were great but i just dont think this bluff was credible. it sounded great just based on the river play, because it is true that he cannot really call you without a full house, but if you combine both your flop and turn play, the bluff on river seemed negative ev to me. as the previous post said, i think raising 88 on river is value owning most of the time, because you rarely get called by worse, just like how he folded AA here. in fact, even raising on river with QQ is more toward value owning side, unless 88 is actually in Gary's range.
