10k guarantee live tourny ($90 +1 rebuy & an add on)
Just finished first break and buy ins/add ons are done. Blinds are 200/400 with a 50 ante (9 handed).
Villain is a solid player that I have history with at a few final tables. He is solid player but I have already taken a 12k pot from him prior to the break. He has been aggressive in position and won a lot of hands at this table.
Action folds to Villain(24k stack) in the CO and he opens for 1150. Folds to hero in SB(23k stack) with AhKc. I make it 3900 to go and villain flats.
Flop is 10d6h4d (pot is 8650)
Hero checks, Villain bets 3000, hero flats
Turn is 10d6h4d 5d (pot 14,650)
Hero checks, Villian checks
River 10d6h4d5d 3c (pot 14,650)
Hero bets $6,000
My question:
1) is the check call for pot control ok on the flop or do I fire a C bet and if so what size?
2) What are your thoughts on my river bet? I wanted to get any small pocket pair or Ax that hit to fold out.
Thanks in advance for your feedback and advice!

A C-bet is pretty standard play and would be fine. Check calling is also OK, but should be followed up with a bet on the turn rather than checking.

Others may differ, but I follow the rule that more is better and would go with about 2/3 to 3/4 pot bet. Under 1/2 pot bet gives the villain too good a price.

given pot size of 8650 and stacksize of about 20k left, I think something arround 50% pot seems right, maybe even a bit less. Do you think villain would flat that huge 3bet with mid pairs (would be terrible, but many live players do) or KQ/KJ suited broadways type hands? Or is his range rather strong, like maybe 99 - JJ and AQ/AK even?
If his range is wide, I generally like cbetting 50% and then jamming turn for the rest, which is about 90% pot ( as long as he is capable of folding). If you dont think he is capable of folding (and his PF range is wide), then a cbet of even less, about 3900 may be better, just too make him fold his unimproved overcars, and then shut down if you get called.

You can't 3bet and then check call this flop. Take the oop float with <20bbs out of your aresenal.

Without a lot of info about how he will play specifically against you, yall's recent showdown history, etc., I think I would fire flop and never fold. If he floats I would be bet-committing a lot of turns
