Jimbo I remember reading alot of your earlier posts, after reading this no doubt your game has come along way, and will continue to do so in the future.  When losing makes you better your opponents don't really stand a chance.

The best time to quit is when you make a decision and play a hand  that's not based on the actual facts and options before you.  You always want to play against players who pla when they should quit. Very profitable

Personally all of my downswings have been probably the best parts of my poker career as far as getting better at the games. It makes me want to figure out why I was lossing, and even if I was playing properly, I make damned sure to play even better, think more, and study more. I usually find my downswings occur when I think I have figured a game out, and I always get reminded that someone that thinks they know everything is at a big disadvantage to the person that beleives they know nothing.

As for me its a question of a mentality not BB . When I feel too thrustated,and no any mood to play further , then i stop and take a break.
I think that even if thrustation doesent effect your desicion it's still a part of a tilt

8k for 2 5 plo? 1500 stop loss? ive seen nits lose 1500 peddling the nuts only in an aggressive game in like 30 min! if ur br is 8k then u better try something smaller or hope like hell u dont hit a downswing. gl.

Sorry about the earlier posts without full details on player types and all. Was really wanting a vacum play reponse and got the answers I needed.  Same game, Banker types and bookies Deep 5/5 NLH and PLO mix game.  There are usually straddles to at least 10, single straddle. Starting stacks are 1000. Went KK vs AA earlier on lost coz I raise utg and 4b/call for 1.5X raise getting 3-1 to Btns slowplayed AA, and later lost to a donk/spewtard when i 4b KdKs6s7d Bb vs Sb and he called it off for 500 more with effective stacks of 1100 with Qs2s2d3s.  Was in for 6k and had 3300 at the start of the hand. This hand happened in the last orbit with 5 hands to go. I was dealt AcAdJcQd UTG and was the first straddler and UTG+1 super straddled to 20. 7 started the hand and 4 ppl called back to me. UTG+1 is learning the game at a fast rate and a big winner on the Enet networks Omaha tables. Live he is mostly nitty but opens up hsi game in PLO coz he thinks he has an edge over most players there. He started the hand with nearly the exact amount i did. I flat the straddle pretty sure he would raise and he did and got called in 4 spots. ACtion back to me and I pot his 125 bet to 650 on top. He calls and Btn calls. Btn is a laggy maniacish player with 60-70% know how or proffieciency in the game but he is in for 16 and doesnt mind gambling at all.  Flop $2650  9c 8d 4s I bet 950 with the intention of bet calling for value and because I know they know i have aces and will spaz out in these spots. I think the board most likely hit the UTG+1 pretty well but the BTn not so much. UTG+1 pots it for 1850 more which is 90 more than i have and I expected it and wouldnt be happy calling it off but was prepared to. BTN thinks for 3 mins or so and cold calls 2750 but doesnt look to happy about it.  I have to call 1850 into 9100ish. I expect the UTG+1 player to have two pairs or on the offchancejust one, along with a some sort of straight draw. I dont think the BTn has a set that often but at the least he has a hand as strong as UTG.  Whats the best move in this spot? Do I always have enough equity over here to call? Is my flop sizing good if I am comfortable getting it against one of them but not two of them, esp since the BTN is willing to take risks? What the best play in a vacum without reads? Thanks in advance.

5/5 PLO deep live river decision

5/5 game PLO, no pros on teh table. A weekend game arranged by a bunch if bankers and such. I started hand with 1700-1800 and was in the bb. I have qd 9d <acronym style="font-size: 12px; line-height: 19px; background-color: #fbf9f3;" title="JavaScript">js</acronym> 3h. preflop gets limped through and we are 5 ways to the flop. flop jd 9s 3d. I lead out for pot, 30. Get called in two spots and the sb check raises to 100 more, he has me covered. I elect to call and one player folds and the other one calls. Turn 10d. I have three pairs open ended straight draw and q high flush draw. BB checks I check player in position bets pot for 450. BB folds and I think for a bit and call. River Ks. I check and he bets 1200 which is close to pot putting me all in.  Are there enough AQxx in his hand to fold or is this always a call?

Live game with bankers and such. No pros on the table.  Im in the blinds with As Ts Kd 5d. limps around to smarter player but not very good one either who opens for 30. I call expecting a lot of calls behind. We are 4 way to the flop 2s 5c 4s. I check and action checks to PFR who bets close to pot 110. I check call and one other player in the CO check calls as well. Turn kc. I check CO checks PFR bets 400 close to pot. I think I haev enough equity here with two pairs and nut flush draw but a dirty gutshot 3 as well. Co folds and river comes 3h. I check he bets 1000 into 1250.  Call?  Reasons for folding?

first of all learn the basics rules, odds & outs. My second tipp is use a tracking software like HoldemManager or Pokertracker (both have trials) to review and analyse your hands. Learning the game alone is hard and boring so look for some people who played the same Limit or best they play higher and better than you and discus your hands in skype.
ex. I play 4 hours and make 2 hours theory

Was is the best size which most of your range against regs who call OOP 40% or more from the blinds. Ofcourse it depends. But better to bet like 50-65% 65-80 or just pot. Small is obv cheaper but less Fold equity.
Can you punish them to just build a bigger pot in position?, Villain can not really get to showdown allot.
I hope you guys can give me a good insight!
Im playing 100 and 200 plo at the moment.

I like it.
Whatever you do, don't bet turn then check this river. Pretty much none of a nit's flop calling range is folding this turn, and he'll have a ton of {overpair/top pair} hands that turned an FD and hope you'll stop firing on the river (A nit is never CRing the turn with those hands). It's also really hard for him to have sets here: he will have so few low pairs in his range (the odd KK22 type hand but that's about it), you block top set (and assume he doesn't cc/cc/k with that hand until you actually see him do it) so the only one left is 99xx.
Finally, from a nit's perspective, calling down J9xx three streets here is a complete bluffcatcher (And he's right, I doubt you are betting J3 for value against him here). He is extremely likely to fold even that on the river which means he is folding almost his entire turn range (and what other two pair do you expect him to have?).
Also, your future equity goes way up if he calls you down here anyway. One of the massive frustrations with nits is they never pay you off! If he calls you down here then every time you triple him in the future this hand will be in the back of his mind.
One of the things I have noticed about triple barrel spots is that they seem hard because you have little statistical information to go on (e.g fold to river CB stat will have a sample size of 3). The only way you find out if a given nit is sticky or pusses out every river is by doing it. Ball till you fall, and you may be surprised at what you can get away with (P.S. they tend to sand bag more in position, so try and have more turn equity there, it's always so tilting to have call/call/shove into you from an 11/9 who decided to flat the nuts on the turn).

Not really a fan since you rep so few hands (top2+) and I think he calls you down with any two pair. The problem is that except for like QQT8 or possibly AKJT there is no real hands that is not a two pair that he plays like this, and if he does with like KKxx or something he could still herocall you. 
Not sure what I'd do with my range on the turn, but I think I'd prefer to put this in my check back range. I'd like to think a little bit about this.

Vs weaker players I'd prefer to bet smaller on the river to get more herocalls. Don't think people bluffs a lot without the blocker and overall it seems like a spot where you'll have to convince them that you could possibly have a wideish valuerange to get them to call you with some lower flushes. Your lines looks really creadible and vs people who can herofold a bit I think it's bad to pot it since well, you can't have that many hands that needs to bluff unless they feel that you'll turn a lot of stuff into bluffs.

I must admit i have never been very good at following through on my stop losses. Partly because im stubborn and i often find a way of convincing myself that i can still play winning poker.  I mean in light of your poker career being one long session it doesnt really make sense to quit when you think you have an edge. You know your coming back to the tables eventually anyways and if you think your head is still in a good place to play there is no point in quitting. I think the problem for me lies in it being very easy to convince myself that im playing winning poker when in reality i might not be. undoubtably when im losing lots i get more gambly and  my 3 bet frequency increases. the line just gets blurry for me especially when im losing big to a huge fish and im confident that he will pay me off when the tides turn.

I think the specific number of buy-ins for a stop-loss is much less important than that you establish one based on your game type, bankroll, tilt control, etc. and stick to it. 
The number will be different for different people obviously, but I'd think 20% of your roll would be the upper limit for almost anyone.
FWIW, I've moved to 2/5 live since Black Friday and have an $8,000 roll.  I've established a stop-loss of $1,500.  That's the amount I can lose and still go to sleep without any problems.   Everybody is so awful at low stakes live that it's a little bit different, though.

I prefer quitting when I think that I an going to pay off with bluff catcher... Many people have bankroll of about 100 bi, so losing 20 is a big mistake... I have kind of day stop loss 10bi for 6 max, but not sure if it is optimal.

I just had one of those sessions where i played for the most part good (maybe a few spots played bad because of some frustration) but one of those sessions where it just doesnt matter what you do you end up losing. You do your best to minimize losses but shit like flopping top 2 in 3 bet pot and you just lost over and over again.  Obviously also losing all my flips and 60/40s along with running good 2nd best hands into better hands a lot. I know any poker player who has any expereicne knows what im talking about. However in this situation, i was frustrated but not tilted at leastnot  to the point where i felt it was affecting my decision making process. I knew i was getting extremely unlucky, and felt like i was still making good decisions and felt like i still had an edge on my oponent as soon as he stopped running like God. The question is, how long do you think you should keep playing in this situation, keep going past 10 bis? 20 bis? when they just dont stop running like God and you keep telling yourself just keep making good decisions, your time will come, you still have confidence in yourself. is there something to be said for just quitting even if you think your still making good decisions? What happened today is i finally started to turn things around doubling up a few times, and then of course my opponent quits! thoughts?? probly should mention im talking about a hu session here

If you c/c $100 on the turn, villain would need to pay off another $100 every time you hit, or the last $215 into a pot of $373 about 45% of the time. I don't like your chances.
Do we know anything about villain or hero? Does he have a wide flop peeling range? I'd be tempted to c/shove my blocker+outs on the turn, but it's pretty spewy without very specific reads. What kind of dynamic would we need for that play?

BTN($800)-A very loose play preflop.  He has a ton of leaks all over his game, but a lot of them begin with his preflop hand selection.  He plays a lot of hands with a ton of reverse implied odds.  Postflop, I have played much more NLHE w/ him than PLO, but so far what it seems like is that he peels flops relatively lightly.  He bluff raises pretty infrequently, but he's certainly capable of floating and bluffing later streets when checked to.  He also has a tendency to stab once and give up when called.  He hand reads poorly, but is capable of making hero calls or hero folds at times.  I wouldn't say that he is terrible, but he is certainly a losing player. 
SB($1000)-A recreational player,(Lawyer.  Very wealthy) who is here to have a good time, get drunk, and gamble.  He takes it seriously though and he is not going to simply throw his money away.  One big tendency of his that I have noticed, is that he is very unlikely to make a big hero call on the river.  I would say that 80%+ of the time that he has gotten bet into on the river, he was folded.  The only times when he did call was when he had a hand that was an obvious call.  We are pretty friendly with eachother.  He has bought me 3 vodka/redbulls so far tonight.  Me, him, and his friend Joe have been bullshitting w/ eachother all night. 
Hero(covers table)-My image is that of a good/aggressive internet kid capable of anything.  They all know that I played online and BB in particular is probably a bit intimidated by my poker game.  I feel like BTN does like to take shots at me occasionally(whether that be hero calling vs me more than others, or getting out of line vs me postflop more than others).

Questions:
1)Thoughts on my line on all streets?
2)Thoughts on my river bet size.  There was about 350-400 behind in BTN's stack and 600 in SB's stack.  Is there any merit to a smaller sizing?    3)Let's say the turn action went BTN pot, SB fold, back to Hero.  My plan was to call with the intention of jamming on heart/J/A rivers.  But, even though I think that my hand is still best some % of the time, what are some rivers that I could consider bluffing and why?
4)Let's put ourself in SB's shoes.  If we have a hand like T876 (with and without spades), do you like calling, shoving, or folding, and why?

From the way he played the hand, I think that your tight nit has a drawing hand like you said. He probably has something like QTXX, QJTX, KQJX, JT9X, or JT8X. However, this doesn't rule out hands like QQJT or small sets. Many tight players who are also very passive will wait until the river to bet out or raise on this type of board with a set. They reason that they don't want to see a straightening card or other trouble card come before they put in a lot of money. Also, they would probably raise on the turn with a set since the flush card came and they would want to protect their set.
The turn continuation bet is a little suspect. You have position with a mediocre hand, why not take the free card and keep the pot small. If he has anything, he's beating you. If not, he will call with his good draws and fold everything else. He could be calling here with draws such as QTXX with two diamonds, AJXX with two diamonds, KQJX with two diamonds, KQTX with two diamonds, or even 33AX with AX diamonds or 99XX with two diamonds. Also, you're putting a lot of money in here. Watch out that you don't pot commit your opponent by the river. It may get to a point where your opponent will call the river with anything because of the amount of money he has already committed.
The river is a blank. This is both a good and a bad spot to bluff. You are essentially representing a set or top two pair here. You need to be sure of two things before you bluff here. First, your opponent is able to put you on these types of hands from past experience. Second, your opponent is able to lay down lesser hands. The reason is that your opponent can see that this is a blank as well. Therefore, if he is a thinking opponent, then he will know that this card really didn't help you. So, in his mind you either have a hand such as a flopped two pair/set or you are bluffing. This is definetly risky, but given how you played the hand this is your best option. Hope this helps!
