Throughout my poker career I think one of my biggest leaks has been proper bankroll management. I busted my Merge account (again) but was fortunate enough to bink an 18 man 1$ with my few VIP points. Over the last 36 hours I ran $7 up to ~85 playing 4NL micro's.
I know in the past 20 BI was fairly standard, but at what point do you start taking shots? Also, as the games have progressed and gotten tougher, is 20 BI still enough? Are people only moving up or taking shots when they have 20 BI of the new limit? Thoughts and advice are appreciated, I'd like to run this up legit rather than taking a shot with my entire roll this time.

Opinions differ in this issue.
In my mind a conservative bankrollmanagement is the better deal.
As a cashgame-player, and a tight one, I sometimes have days when I lose more than 10 buy ins. That can be desastrous for your bankroll and your mindset if you dont have enough money to back you up.
Take your time and climb up step by step !

It depend on how many tables play at the same time...
Consider the level of your game too... Dont think "i have 30BI.. ill take a shot"...
Be a winner at your level, get 40 BI, and go to the next level!!!!
GL at tables....

GOOD LUCK! I'm basically in your same stop. I seem to abuse my BR management. Today for an example I was bored with the micros and upped my game to $50 on the .25/.50 tables and got up to $175 in a hurry. Then i went back to them later and it seemed as if online was against me in every way.
anyways my goal for this month is to get my merge account to $1,000 from $25 i just put in on the 2nd.
again, GL man!

Have you looke dinto a software called TiltBuster?
A small price to pay for a tilt management program that will act as a bodyguard between your rage and your precious bankroll you can also Set rules for your stakes, games, cashier access, # of tables, and when you play.
