With my first post of 2012 I wanted to wish everyone a happy new year. For me, 2011 wasn't a very good time in my poker career as I began with lofty goals and came nowhere near reaching them. Part of this was due to being scammed for most of my bankroll in the Spring and to Black Friday... but either way it's always extremely disappointing to come up short. For 2012, I've set more goals and resolutions both on and off the tables. A lot have to do with results but most are in respect to discipline and professionalism in my game.

It's never been in my nature to sit back and book a win. I pretty much always "go for the throat" in matches where I gain leads and on days where I'm up substantial amounts. I actually attribute some of my skill now to this mantra and I believe that I am a stronger thinker and player because of it. However, in my old age I have realized that this isn't always optimal and "running out the clock" is sometimes the most optimal strategy (although never the fun one).

While this goal/resolution mostly has consistency in mind, a few others are directed at growth- as a player, coach and person. I will be committing a certain % of my videos to member reviews or member inspired videos, as well as pledging a lot more of my time to coaching and posting. In 2012 I want the BFP to not only thrive but grow into the top training site and forum. The forum's strategy content is extremely lacking and hopefully the other coaches and members will join me in an attempt to revive it.

In addition, for the next month or so (until I get too busy) I will be reducing my coaching rate to a special rate of $50/hr. This goes for all NL/PLO, HU/6m/9m, small stakes to high stakes. My hope is that this will encourage those of you on the fence about coaching to give it a shot. The game is changing and if we do not grow and improve, we lose.

Finally, given the unfortunate departure of Phil I will be attempting to pick up a little of the slack in PLO content. In no way am I comparing myself to Phil or saying that I come close as a player (there's only a couple guys in the world that could), but I'm hopeful that I can produce some quality material from a mid-stakes perspective. We've had some interesting posts about potential video material on the forums lately and I encourage everyone to continue thinking and prompting us for material on their ideas.

Cheers,

JP Zdancewicz
