I am the worst at updating this blog.  Embarrassing.

For my next series I'm going to do database reviews.  It will be a 90 minutes session where I go through your database and tell you where you are missing value.  This is for shnl players and I need a database of at least 100K hands, preferably 150K hands.  I'll do any level up to 600NL.  I have done DB reviews for 1KNL+ players but it's completely different process and requires a ton of hit and miss digging around and it wouldn't make for a good video, imo.

Send your database and skype info to AJacksonBFP@gmail.com.  First 5 get the review. You'll be on chat with me as I do the review.  You can export hands in the hands tab in HM, but it's easier to go to c:/HMArchive and send me the last x months that will give the needed database.

I've been insanely busy lately, more so than I've been in a long time.  Myself and another very good msnl grinder have started backing due to the events of Black Friday.  There are so many solid players out there it seemed like the perfect opportunity.  Thus far we've not really even put much effort into finding players and are maxing out our resources.  We have about 40 very solid guys.  We're taking a very intensive coaching approach and taking bit of a smaller cut looking to focus on long term relationships where we can help them grow as a player and not having them end the stake as soon as they have their own roll.

I was just adding up hours today wondering how much time I put in last month.  I played 90K hands.  Produced 3 or 4 videos for BFP.  26 private coaching session averaging about 90 minutes.  34 hours in group coaching or database review for stakees.  I don't know how many hours managing all the back end stuff.  My partner does almost daily small group sessions.  Wouldn't be surprised if he spent 75 hours coaching this month.

This is our third month and I plan on maintaining this pace for one more month, then easing back. My partner and I wanted to give ourselves the best possbile chance at succcess and hard work is the one thing we can control.  Each month our stakees improve as do our results.  I haven't been this excited about poker in a long time.  It's a lot of fun helping players grow and making money at the same time.

If you're interested, send me a pm.  Our plan is to pick up a few good players each month and start the evaluation process around the 10th.  We already have our players for this month but will be looking for more next month.  Our ideal canidate is someone with a verifiable playing history of breakeven or better poker at 50 or 100NL and will grind 40K hands/month.  We'll consider 25NL and especially 25 EU players, but volume becomes a bigger factor.  We'll consider guys playing higher, but it's not our primary focus.

I'm pretty much only working right now, but of what little life I do have outside of work is great.  I've lost about 5KG over the past 6 weeks.  My girlfriend and I celebrated our one year aniversery.  Most of all I'm content and happy with my life.

    Hey Alan,

I was just thinking about your staking and had a couple of questions. How feasible do you think it is for someone to try to survive solely grinding 50NL? Do you think you would have to be aiming at volume much higher than 40k hands in a month? I assume a very good rakeback deal on a euro site would be fairly essential to getting by on grinding 50NL, what sites would you recommend to play on and get that deal?

    Cheers!

50NL is pretty tough. The rake is brutal and the hourly not that great. You get into a grind where you're making your nut but not improving and moving up, imo. I'd focus on becoming better and getting to 100, then grinding for living. Obv a great rb deal is ideal, but be aware that great rb deals attract the nit grinders and can make the games tough.

Is this only for non-US players?

Yes. If/when Merge starts accepting new players then we'll start looking at US based players.
