LOL Donkaments
Post Date: 06 Sep, 2010

Hey,

I played events 1 and 3 of the PokerStars WCOOP today.  Started at 12:30pm and am just now finishing at 5:30am (17 hours, wheeee).  Both tournaments had great structures and event 3 is still going.  It was a $215 buy-in with 12,000 people in it!  Unfortunately, I just went out 52nd.  While taking 52nd/12,000 may sound cool to any non-poker players out there, it is actually pretty miserable.  While I managed to cash for a few $k, all the money is at the top.  $335k for first and...$3.7k for 52nd.  Oh well, it was cool to have another deep tourney run. Its pretty nuts how deep I keep going in these things lately.

These were the first tournaments I have played since my last blog post and probably the 2nd day I played poker since then. I just got back from a trip to Seattle to visit my good friend, Anton, and it was a blast.

Heh, I meant to make this a longer post, but I am just too damned tired.  I hope you guys are doing well!

Finally Played Poker
Post Date: 26 Aug, 2010

Hey guys,

So I have actually managed to get three sessions of poker in during the last week.  I haven't played many hands, but it still has been good to get back at it.  So far, I am running pretty terrible in cash games.  Don't worry, I am not expecting anyone to feel bad for me :).  So far, though, I am 20 BIs below in AI EV in like 3k hands.  All 5/10 and 10/20 plo though for now.  I am still gonna wait a bit before playing primarily 25/50.  I wouldn't be surprised if I play 90% of my hands below 25/50 until the Final Table is finished.  Its just pretty unlikely I will get enough hands in in the next few months to feel comfortable diving into those games again fully.

I have played 4 tournaments too during these sessions.  After having what will probably be the greatest run I will ever have in tourney poker, I am enjoying tournaments quite a bit right now.  The good news is that my tourney rungood is still in full-force.  I played in two of the UBOC events today. The $200PLO and the $300 deepstacked NL.  I went out 13th in the PLO.  The structure was pretty bad and it was a gamble-fest, but when I went out I started the hand with 45ishbbs, so I had a good-sized stack for most of the end of the tournament.  I also final tabled the NL event.  I was 3rd in chips with 13 left, but when we hit the final table, I was the shortstack with 11bbs (sound familiar?).  I doubled up at one point, but eventually lost an AI when I had 20bbs with QJ on a Qxx flop vs AQ.  It was nothing special, I opened, got flatted and cbet/called a shove with top pair on a drawy board.  Obv I ran great to hit the FT (including winning several all-ins when behind).  Anyway, I went out 8th allowing me to break even for the day after the cash-game losses.

I'm gonna tell myself that my tourney luckbox is still going strong, and I am saving my Final Table rungood for November.

I am off to Seattle next week to visit a very good friend then I am taking off for London mid-September for the WSOPE and the EPT London.  My wife is coming with (her first time in London), so it should be fun.

I am realizing as I type this out that I am way more tired than I thought I was.  Hopefully you guys could follow this cluster**** of a blog post.

Hey guys,

I still owe everyone a longer blog post that discusses the main event more thoroughly.  I will get to it eventually. :-P

I am still doing a lot of interviews and looking to get plans together to go play the WSOP Europe (at least the main event) and EPT London.  I am ~80% sure I am gonna go to both of them.  I am also looking into other live events over the next few months.

I finally got http://www.jasonsenti.com up and running!  I pretty much did it the dumbest way possible...I built it myself.  I used some templates, etc, but I ended up doing all the work.  I was planning to hire it out, but whatever, I guess I caught up a little bit on web design for the first time since I was like 16 years old.

Its not perfect, but I think its pretty good for a noob.  Be kind if you feel like ripping me apart for the design. ;)

I hope you guys are doing well,

November 9
Post Date: 18 Jul, 2010

Hey guys.  I have been up for nearly 24 hours now and just recently finished the play down to nine players.  I ended the day very short (7.5 mill, I think?) and some craziness went down including a fold that will either make me look brilliant or idiotic.  Either way, I am in the November 9!!!!!

Time to sleep.  I have interviews/etc in a few hours and many friends here ready to party.  I am sure you guys will hear a lot about this in the upcoming months.

Thanks for all the support!

Day 8
Post Date: 17 Jul, 2010

LOL Donkaments.  Well, I ran absolutely insane today and finished day 7 4th in chips with 13.5 million.  Tomorrow we play down from 27 to 9 players.  This is starting to get real.

Thanks so much everyone for the kind words and support.  Time to get some sleep as I have to get to the Rio early tomorrow for some PR stuff.  I hope to be part of the November 9 this year (how sick would that be?), but I know that a lot can happen within a few hands of poker.  I'm really happy with my run so far.

LOL Day 7
Post Date: 16 Jul, 2010

Well, heading into day 7 in a few hours.  Day 6 didn't go so well and I walked out with 30k chips less than I started the day with.  I am still in the Main Event with 79 players, though, so lets be happy about my 20bbs!  Gonna need a heater to last longer than a few hands tomorrow.  Its been a great run either way.

Day 6
Post Date: 15 Jul, 2010

Same thing as last time, guys.  Gotta sleep. Phil and I are both heading to Day 6 with basically 1mill in chips.  Down to 200 players from the original 7500.  Still a long way to go, but its officially a deep run for both of us.

Day 5 of the WSOP ME
Post Date: 14 Jul, 2010

Gotta get to sleep. I just wanted to mention that I am still going in this gigantic event.  575ish players left out of 7500.  We are in the money.  I have 579k and average is 383k.

Edit: Since Phil didn't find time to post.  He is also still in and has around 1.4mill in chips!

Day 4
Post Date: 13 Jul, 2010

Hey guys,

I just wanted to quickly mention that I am still in the ME along with Phil.  I am at 132,000 chips.  I was up near 200k at one point today, but things didn't go well in the last few levels.  I still have over 50bbs going into tomorrow, though, so I am at least somewhat optimistic.

As Phil mentioned, its gotten to the point where its going to hurt to bust.  While I am very confident in my ability as a poker player and over 6,000 people have been eliminated, its still 50bb poker with 1200 people in it. Its going to take a ton of luck to get really deep.

You can follow me @PBJaxx on Twitter.

Here's to hoping for some run good!  Its been pretty fun either way.

Main Event
Post Date: 10 Jul, 2010

Hey Guys,

Quick update for those who don't use twitter.  I played day 2A of the Main Event yesterday and finished up the day pretty well at 105K chips.  I had a good table, but I had a very good tournament player 2 to my left (Jason Somerville), and he really tied my hands for a large portion of the day as I sat with ~30bbs.  By the end of the day, though, I had a few hands go my way and then was able to chip up once I was playing deeper.

I may go into more specifics here at some point, but I have a lot of updates on twitter, so you can check that out if you want more info.  105k should be a bit above average by my estimations, although that isn't all that important.  What's more important is that I should be going into Day 3 (Monday) with a little over 100bbs :).

Thanks to everyone who has been rooting for me/ following me.

10k PLO
Post Date: 02 Jul, 2010

Hey guys,

I made day 2 of the 10k PLO.  I have around 40k chips. I was up over 60 at one point, but lost a bit back over the last few levels.  I will still have 50bbs at the start of day 2, though, so its not too bad.  I'll be updating on twitter.

5k PLO
Post Date: 29 Jun, 2010

Hey guys,

I played in the 5k PLO last night.  I busted in the last level of day 1.  I was never able to get anything going.  I was short pretty quick and was at active tables, so I had to catch hands.  Had it fold to me in the CO/Btn exactly 1 time.  I was very card dead but managed to hang on by winning a hand every once in awhile without showdown.  Finally busted with AAxx vs a good rundown.  It made for boring play, but I stayed patient where I needed to and gave myself a shot at building back up.

My first table was ridiculous.  I had issues with getting my Bellagio chips approved at the Rio and had to wait to get a swap from someone, so I registered late.  When you register late, you end up at a table with a bunch of other people who register late.  Generally, those who are okay with wondering in late with 5k in their pocket for an event are pretty damn good poker players.  As result, my table was 8 pros and 1 amateur who busted pretty quickly.  Di Dang, Boosted J, Southside, and Mindcirkus were a few of the players at my first table.

Some kid at my second table who I assume is a tourney guy got a big hand busted and made a bad river call (same hand). Afterwords he looked like he was gonna punch out the table and started potting every hand pre and every flop.  He ran up like 2k into around 20k in a few minutes by spiking every hand. It was the most blatent live tilt I have ever seen in a donkament.  PLO is funny.

I got to hang out with some cool people yesterday, though, so it was still a fun day.  I talked a fair amount with Di (Urindanger on FTP). He is cool as hell.  He has to be the most humble poker player I have ever talked to.  He has won millions year after year, but somehow seems like he doesn't have an ego at all.  Its really impressive.  We went to dinner with a big group of great players during the dinner break.  It was rushed, but it was a good time.

I am skipping the 3k NL today so I can get settled in here. I need to get my Bellagio chip situation figured out, meet up with some people, get some groceries, etc.  I will probably get stuff done during the day and then tear it up tonight.

Hope you guys are doing well.  I am saving my rungood for the 10k PLO on Thursday.

In Vegas
Post Date: 28 Jun, 2010

 Hey guys,

I am officially in Vegas.  I got in late last night and mostly unpacked and crashed.  Today I have to run to The Bellagio to pick up my wire and go register for the 5k PLO that starts today at 5pm.  I'm glad to be finally starting up the WSOP this year.

I'll put updates on Twitter.  I am PBJaxx there.
